Manually Connecting Your EV Charger to the GivEnergy Cloud

Manually Connecting Your EV Charger to the GivEnergy Cloud

This guide explains how to manually connect your GivEnergy EV Charger (EVC) to the GivEnergy Cloud if it does not come online automatically. These steps are typically used during troubleshooting or initial setup where WiFi details need to be entered manually.

Before you start

  • Ensure the EV Charger is powered on.
  • Have the WiFi network name (SSID) and password ready.
  • Stand close to the EV Charger during setup.
  • You will need a phone, tablet, or laptop with WiFi and a web browser.

Step 1 – Power cycle or factory reset the EV Charger

First, power the EV Charger off and then back on. If the charger does not present a WiFi hotspot or you are unsure of its state, perform a factory reset:

  1. Open the grey front cover of the EV Charger.
  2. Locate the tamper switch.
  3. Press the tamper switch 10 times.
  4. You will hear one beep, followed by two beeps.
  5. The charger will reboot and reset to factory defaults.

Step 2 – Connect to the EV Charger WiFi hotspot

After rebooting, the EV Charger will broadcast a temporary WiFi hotspot.

  • The network name will appear as EVSE-12345678 (or similar).

  • The WiFi password is printed on a label on the side of the EV Charger.

Connect your phone, tablet, or laptop to this WiFi network.

Step 3 – Access the configuration page

Once connected to the EV Charger hotspot:

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter the following address: 192.168.4.1
  3. A login page will appear.
  4. Enter the password 12345678 and press Enter.

Step 4 – Enter your home WiFi details

You will now see the EV Charger configuration page.

  • Enter your home WiFi network name (SSID).
  • Enter the WiFi password carefully.
  • Save or apply the settings.

The EV Charger will attempt to connect to your WiFi and then to the GivEnergy Cloud.

Optional: Advanced network settings

At the bottom of the configuration page, advanced users can also:

  • Switch between DHCP and Static IP addressing.
  • Manually define DNS server settings.

These options are not required for most installations and should only be changed if you understand your local network configuration.

After setup

Once connected, allow a few minutes for the EV Charger to appear online in the GivEnergy App or Portal.

If the charger does not come online after completing these steps, contact your installer or GivEnergy Support for further assistance.
