This article summarises the installation and configuration procedure for the GivEnergy LoRa Radio Module (digital display version). LoRa is used to provide
long-range wireless communication between inverters, batteries, meters, or accessories where
cabled RS485 is not practical.
System Overview
The LoRa module enables wireless RS485-equivalent communication between GivEnergy devices.
For correct operation, all LoRa modules within the system must be configured to:
- LoRa Radio Mode
- The same frequency
- Matching serial port settings (baud & parity)
Key Features
- Long-range low-bandwidth communication suitable for detached buildings or long cable runs.
- Digital display with menu controls.
- Supports UART configuration and frequency selection.
- Powered from 240 VAC.
- RS485 A/B ports for inverter or battery communication.
Installation Requirements
- Install module indoors in a dry, ventilated environment.
- Connect L/N for AC power input.
- RS485 wiring must follow inverter/battery communication diagrams.
- Antenna must be fitted for stable operation.
Set to LoRa Radio Mode
- Press and hold FUNC to open Main Menu.
- Press FUNC repeatedly until System appears.
- Press ENTER to open System Settings.
- Press ENTER repeatedly until LoRa Radio is displayed.
- Press FUNC to return to Main Menu.
- Select Reboot → press ENTER.
- Hold FUNC to open Main Menu.
- Scroll to UART → press ENTER.
- Scroll to Parity → set to None.
- Scroll to Baud Rate → set to 9600 bps.
- Scroll to Reboot → press ENTER.
Change Frequency
- Hold FUNC to open Main Menu.
- Select Frequency.
- Use FUNC to select digits, ENTER to increase values.
- Set all LoRa modules to the same frequency.
- Reboot to apply.
Important Notes
- All LoRa units must match: Radio Mode, Frequency, Baud Rate, Parity.
- Incorrect configuration will prevent communication with inverters or batteries.
- Use only LoRa units with digital displays for these instructions.
