Grid Loss: What to Do if Your System Loses Grid Connection
If your GivEnergy system detects a grid loss, it may stop charging, discharging, or reporting
correct data. This article explains how to diagnose a grid loss condition and what steps to
take to restore normal operation.
Symptoms of Grid Loss
- The app or portal shows “No Grid Data” or missing grid readings
- Battery will not charge or discharge
- Inverter enters standby mode
- Home load may appear far lower or higher than expected
1. Check the Main Consumer Unit
- Look for any tripped breakers or RCDs
- Reset the breaker if safe to do so
2. Check the Inverter AC Isolator
- Ensure the isolator is in the ON position (| symbol)
3. Check the Generation Meter (if installed)
- If the meter display is blank or off, it may indicate loss of supply
- Turn off AC isolator
- Turn off DC/Battery isolator
- Restart inverter → then battery → then AC (in that order)
When to Escalate
- If the home has grid power but the inverter still shows no grid
- If grid readings remain missing after a restart
- If EPS mode remains active unexpectedly
If problems persist, contact your installer or GivEnergy Support with screenshots of your
system data and inverter serial number.
