What happens to battery capacity as it ages?

All rechargeable batteries lose some capacity over time, and your GivEnergy battery is no exception. This is expected and covered by warranty.

  • GivEnergy guarantees 70% of usable capacity for the lesser of:

    • 10MWh of energy throughput per 1kWh capacity (about 5,000 full cycles at 90% depth of discharge).

    • 10 years from installation.

  • Some newer models (8.2kWh and 9.5kWh) have unlimited throughput warranties.

  • Firmware updates may also improve how state of charge (SOC) is calculated, restoring apparent capacity.

Troubleshooting:

  • If you see lower capacity readings, it may be due to SOC calculation drift rather than real loss. A calibration may help.

When to Contact Support:

If you believe your battery is performing significantly below its warranty guarantee.
