Connecting GEM120CT to GivEnergy Inverter

Overview

The GEM120CT communicates with the inverter via RS485 Modbus. This allows the inverter to calculate import/export power in real time.

The colour convention above is recommended but not mandatory — ensure A+ and B– remain consistent on both ends.

Communication Indicators

  • Flashing Red LED: Active communication between meter and inverter.

  • Solid Light: Power present but no data exchange — check polarity or cable connection.

Tips

  • Use twisted pair cable (e.g., Belden 2-core shielded).

  • Keep RS485 cable runs under 100 m to avoid interference.

  • Avoid routing next to AC mains to reduce noise.
