Our secure algorithm temporarily adjusts your battery’s charging and discharging patterns to align with grid service events.
When you sign up, you’ll indicate whether you’re on a time-of-use tariff.
If you have cheaper energy overnight, we’ll aim to charge your battery during those hours — so you can benefit from both grid services and peak-time savings when no event is active.
Your charge schedule will automatically adjust for the day of the event, then revert to your normal schedule immediately afterwards.
If you’d like to make changes, you can always update your schedule directly in the GivEnergy app.
This programme does not affect your tariff.
You’ll continue to pay and receive your usual rates from your supplier for importing and exporting electricity.
You’ll also continue to receive any payments from Feed-in Tariff (FiT) or Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) programmes.
You can participate in GivBack while remaining on flexible tariff schemes. During onboarding, you can specify if you have a cheap-rate period, and GivBack will automatically optimise charging and discharging to maximise your earnings.
If you have solar, your battery will still charge from your solar generation to power your home.
During grid events, GivBack will only use any spare battery capacity beyond what your household solar requires.
No. You’ll continue receiving the same payments from any export programmes, including FiT and SEG.
This programme doesn’t alter your existing tariffs or payments — any GivBack rewards will be in addition to what you already earn.
No changes are needed.
You can stay with your current energy supplier and tariff — all you need to do is sign up to participate.
We don’t recommend using intelligent or smart tariffs (such as those that automatically control your battery) while participating in GivBack.
Because both systems issue automated control signals, running them together may cause conflicts or scheduling errors.
