Installation Requirements
- Installation must be performed by a GivEnergy Approved Installer.
- Store between 5°C and 60°C before installation.
- Do not install in direct sunlight or enclosed cabinets.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the heat sink.
Safety Instructions
- High-voltage DC and AC present even when powered down.
- Batteries must only be GivEnergy-approved LiFePO₄ storage units.
- Incorrect polarity will cause permanent inverter damage.
- Heat sink becomes hot during operation; avoid touching.
- Ensure protective earth (PE) is connected before energising.
Mounting the Inverter
Mount the inverter vertically with all cable glands facing downward. Use the wall bracket
provided and ensure the wall is strong enough to support over 35 kg. Minimum clearances:
- Left: 300 mm
- Right: 300 mm
- Top: 300 mm
- Bottom: 500 mm
PV Connections
The inverter includes two independent MPPT trackers with one string per tracker.
- Max string current: 16 A
- Max input voltage: 600 V
- Start-up voltage: 80–100 V
- Ensure identical panel orientation and pitch per string.
Battery Connections
Gen 3 hybrid inverters use GivEnergy high-current DC battery connectors. Battery
communication uses the CAN port (BMS → Inverter).
- Use Gen 2/Gen 3 plug-to-plug battery leads.
- Ensure BMS DIP switch addressing is correctly set.
AC Grid Connections
| Model | Breaker | Cable Size |
|---|
| 3.6 kW | C20 | 4 mm² |
| 5.0 kW | C32 | 6 mm² |
A double-pole isolator must be installed between inverter and consumer unit.
Communication Ports
- RS485 (for meter or EMS)
- CT input
- CAN (battery BMS)
- LAN port
- USB port (WiFi/4G dongle)
Commissioning
- Power the inverter with AC.
- Wait for the screen to initialise.
- Confirm CT orientation and meter readings.
- Register the system on portal.givenergy.cloud.
- Perform firmware updates if prompted.
Start-Up Procedure
- Close AC breaker.
- Turn on DC switch.
- Turn on PV switch.
- Verify inverter enters normal operation.
Shutdown Procedure
- Turn off PV isolator.
- Turn off DC switch.
- Open AC breaker.
Storage & Maintenance
- Store between -20°C and 60°C.
- Keep the heat sink free from dust accumulation.
- Check all cable glands annually.
