Grid service events help energy providers balance electricity supply and demand, maintain grid stability, and respond to emergencies or planned maintenance.
By participating, you help stabilise the grid — and you’re financially rewarded for doing so.
Participation is fully automated — you don’t need to do anything manually.
If your battery is able to discharge when there’s an event, it will automatically be scheduled to do so.
You’ll still make the most of your solar generation, if you have solar panels installed.
The frequency of events varies depending on grid demand and seasonal strain.
We’ll notify you whenever your battery is needed to support the grid.
Events can happen at any time of day, but they are most likely between 4 pm and 8 pm, when national demand is highest.
By signing up, you agree to make your system available for all scheduled events.
Under our terms, you’re not permitted to interfere with any specific event — you’re either opted in, or opted out entirely.
When there’s no grid service event, your battery will follow its normal charge and discharge schedule, just as usual.
You’ll receive notifications via the app or GivEnergy Portal (if enabled).
After each event, you’ll also receive a summary of your participation and earnings.
By exporting energy during grid events, you can earn significantly more than through normal operation.
At the same time, our distributed battery network helps strengthen the national grid and reduce carbon emissions by lowering the need for fossil-fuel generation.
It’s a win for you, the grid, and the planet.
